The NMEA (National Marine Eletronics Association) published the winners of the 24 categories on the competitions for the greatest marine products award of the United States. The big winner was Furuno, with nothing less than 10 awards.

In 2003, Furuno had already taken nine awards. On the last year, the company took home the same awards of the previous year, and still won on the Best Navigation Plotter category, for the first time, with its GP-1900C.

The award is chosen among winners and certified technicians, who give scores to the products, based on eight inquiries: quality, ease of use, innovation, support provided by maker, reliability, satisfaction, compatibility with 0183 standards (where applicable) and warranty.
